Hello, my name is Pierluigi and I'm a Freelance Sr. UI/UX Designer specialised in helping Tech Startups and Companies bring their user experience to the next level.

During the 7+ years of working in this field, I learned that the perfect user interface should look good and work even better. Alongside my clients, I uncover problems and solve them. In short, I create bolder online experiences. In the past years I had the opportunity to work with many clients from more than 10 countries, from small startups trying to bootstrap their way into the marketplace all the way to Fortune 500 companies, and several companies in situations in between.

I’ve designed all sorts of projects for all sorts of clients, and the only thing that all my final products had in common is that they had to sell, market and promote. The only way to achieve this is by creating masterly, finished products that convey professionalism and user satisfaction. Every single detail matters - structure, typography, images, proportions, colors, patterns, lines, edges... All should be synchronized to complete the maximum user experience.

I believe that one of my biggest strengths is that I always put myself not only in my client’s shoes, but also in the shoes of the end user. Every project has its target audience with its own needs, expectations, taste etc.

When starting a project, I always take my time to plan, research and experiment, before kicking off with the final design work.

My aim is to create such a strong impression on the end user that they have to act after seeing the design piece.

Services

User Interface Design

Interface design exists to encourage interactions, manage expectations, and enable users. Contrary to popular belief, visual design is never subject to opinion, but instead driven entirely by the objectives of the project.

Therefore, my goal during this “UI” phase is to further enhance the user experience through visual design. I will focus on improving the user experience by adding color, imagery, typography to implement a consistent look and feel across the product, platform, or service you are offering to your clients.

Once the design is complete, I can also ensure it makes a smooth transition into the hands of your development team for accurate and successful implementation.

User EXPERIENCE DESIGN

An excellent user experience is the driving force behind the success of your product or service. My goal during this “UX” phase is to establish a simple and intuitive experience that will lead users to accomplish the tasks we deem most important and relevant during the strategy phase.

It doesn’t matter what your product looks like if people don’t know how to interact with it. That’s why the wireframes or “blueprints” I create will not focus on color, imagery, or typography, but instead focus on hierarchy, content layout, spacial and page relationships, and the product architecture.

FRONT-END WEB DEVELOPMENT

Development is the successful and accurate implementation of the UI & UX design. My goal during the development phase (if applicable) is to accurately and successfully implement the designs through code.

I have a practical understanding of HTML & CSS and have a solid understanding of Bootstrap and, if required, I can either help personally to code the designs by using Webflow or I can work with a very close developer friend of mine who has over 8 years of experience and a big network of 15+ developers that are able to tackle small and big projects. If you prefer to use an in-house team, I can work closely with them to ensure the designs I create are executed perfectly.

Background

Since I was 14 years old, I had a passion for design. I still remember the first time I tried Adobe Photoshop and discovered that you could actually work on design projects all day and make a living out of it. I was both hooked and fascinated by arts and design.

I started learning the basics when I attended an arts focused high school, where I had the opportunity to learn about fine arts, life drawing and learning about anatomy. After school, I would go back home and learn about web and graphic design, creating fake projects and attending design courses either online or offline. It was clear at that point that I really liked working in digital, and after finishing high school I decided to study in one of the best design universities in Europe. A series of events made me book a plane ticket to London, and I ended up attending for three years the BA Graphic Design course at Ravensbourne College of Art and Design.

Being in London provided a lot of opportunities and that's why I kept working both as a freelancer and as a part-time in-house designer for several clients during the three years of university. During the summer time of my second year of uni I landed a four months full-time internship at a 200+ employees company called YouView. I had the chance of working side by side with the Head of Visual Design, and this was a phenomenal work experience. In addition to this, when I was attending my third year of my BA course I worked part-time for a well-funded startup called Citysocializer, where I had the chance of learning what it takes to keep up with the needs of a smaller company, working directly with the CEO and COO of the company.

Shortly after graduating from uni, I embarked on a freelance career which gave me the freedom to work on all sorts of projects with different kinds of businesses - from startups to Fortune 500 companies. The freelance career I had in the past 3 years has been very exciting and fulfilling, and I am really enjoying the lifestyle I managed to build by helping other companies grow and succeed.

I really enjoyed working with Pierluigi. He did a phenomenal job on my web app and website. Opening emails from him felt like opening a Christmas gift as I was excited to see what each new screen would look like. He has a true eye for design. He was attentive and made changes quickly. Glad I found him and I plan on working with him again in the future.
